As Portland blooms into spring, it's the prime opportunity to hop on your bike and explore the city's vibrant cycling scene. It can be tough to get out and about in the winter - short days and dreary weather aren’t always a biker’s best friend. The warmer temperatures and longer days are finally here, and we want to help you get out there!
To help you make the most of this season, we're excited to share three of our top routes around town where you can bask in the sunshine and give those legs a workout. Alongside each ride, we've handpicked one of our products to complement your adventure perfectly.
Ride #1:
North Portland Kelly Point Loop: 18.4 miles

The first recommended ride of ours is a warm-weather favorite. Kelly Point Park is the perfect place to kick back, relax, and catch some rays. This loop starts in North Portland and winds around the Smith and Bybee Wetlands area featuring some fresh, nature-in-the-city-esque scenery. After a stop at Kelly Point (don’t forget to pack some goodies), ride through Pier Park, St. Johns, and along the Willamette bluffs before ending up back in the historic Kenton neighborhood. Elevate your ride by bringing along the Macro Pannier 21L- pop in a bottle of wine and some snacks for the perfect Kelly Point picnic.
Ride #2:
Forest Park Loop: 26.9 miles
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39583151
Our next recommendation is a classic Forest Park loop. As one of the largest urban forests in the United States, Forest Park promises an immersive natural experience. Starting in the Northwest neighborhoods, ascend into the gravel forest roads enveloped by lush greenery and tranquil sounds. After exploring the climbs and descents of Lief Erickson Trail, cruise down Germantown Road, where you'll cross over the St. John's Bridge. The return journey into town, passing over the Broadway Bridge, offers scenic views of the forested hills you just traversed. Back on the west side of town, detour onto the Portland waterfront Willamette Greenway Trail to admire the blooming cherry blossoms. Our Pioneer 12 Handlebar Bag is perfect for this sub-30 mile ride, allowing you to stow your favorite snacks and gadgets for a half-day adventure.
Ride #3:
Marine Drive: 8.2 miles or 43.3 miles

Long version:

Finally, we couldn't leave out a ride centered around Marine Drive. Whether you're seeking a leisurely scenic cruise or yearning for a full day of pedaling, we offer two route options to accommodate everyone's preferences. Marine Drive is a sought-after destination in the spring and summer, offering stunning views of the Columbia River and Mt. Hood, a smooth paved bike path, and often a refreshing breeze. The shorter route option takes you along the river for an out-and-back journey, starting and ending at Broughton Park—a perfect spot for a post-ride river chill! The longer version extends along Marine Drive all the way to the Sandy River Delta, where you can experience a seasonal meal or some soft-serve at Sugarpine Drive-In, before looping back to town via the well-known Springwater Trail. Be sure to carry our small but handy Tool Roll to ensure you have the necessary gear and tools when you might need them most.
Overall, spring biking in Portland is a great way to explore the city and enjoy the outdoors. From the lush trails of Forest Park to scenic riverside routes, there's something for every cyclist to enjoy. So dust off your bike, pack your essentials, and embark on a springtime cycling adventure that's sure to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Happy riding!
